International Human Rights Instruments and Resources: General Comments of UN Treaties

General comments are general statements issued by the treaty body that provides guidance on the interpretation of procedural and substantive requirements of the treaty. The Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, the Human Rights Committee, the Committee Against Torture, and the Committee on the Rights of the Child, refer to these statements as "General Comments". The Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women refer to these statements as "General Recommendations".
