The national mental health strategy contains the support of mental health and the emphasis of its central meaning, the prevention of mental illness and suicide, the effective approach against social stigma and discrimination against persons with mental illnesses, the provision of fair and appropriate financing, securing of good primary care for persons with mental illnesses, the support of suitable services for vulnerable phases of life, the care of persons with severe mental illnesses in community-based services, the guarantee to integrate concerned persons and relatives in planning processes, the strengthening of personal resources, the provision of attractive training possibilities and conditions, generation of reliable data about mental health in the Austrian population and the psychosocial healthcare network, the evaluation of the effect and the gain of new knowledge.
