이 법은 국민에게 건강에 대한 가치와 책임의식을 함양하도록 건강에 관한 바른 지식을 보급하고 스스로 건강생활을 실천할 수 있는 여건을 조성함으로써 국민의 건강을 증진함을 목적으로 한다. 이 법은 다음과 관련된 사항들을 규정한다: 1. 총칙; 2. 국민건강의 관리; 3. 국민건강증진기금; 4. 보칙; 5. 벌칙.
