Mit dem vorliegenden Kinder-Umwelt-Gesundheits- Aktionsplan für Österreich, der auf Initiative des Bundesministeriums für Land- und Forstwirtschaft, Umwelt und Wasserwirtschaft (BMLFUW) und des Bundesministeriums für Gesundheit, Familie und Jugend (BMGFJ) unter Einbeziehung vieler kompetenter Stellen, Experten und Akteure erarbeitet wurde, werden die Ziele und Maßnahmen für eine gesunde Umwelt für unsere Kinder formuliert und die Berücksichtigung der Bedürfnisse der Kinder in den Mittelpunkt gestellt. Österreich setzt mit diesem Aktionsplan die Beschlüsse von 2004 der Umwelt- und Gesundheitsministerkonferenz der WHO „Die Zukunft unseren Kinder“ insbesondere des Kinder-Umwelt Gesundheits-Aktionsplanes für Europa (CEHAPE) um.
Ausgehend von einer Bestandsanalyse folgt der österreichische Aktionsplan der Struktur des Kinder- Umwelt-Gesundheits-Aktionsplans für Europa und enthält Maßnahmenvorschläge in den von der WHO vorgegebenen folgenden vier Handlungsprioritäten:
I. Sicherstellung der Versorgung mit sauberem Wasser und guten sanitären Verhältnissen
II. Unfallverhütung und Sicherstellung von ausreichender
körperlicher Bewegung von Kindern
durch eine kinderfreundliche Stadt- und Verkehrsplanung
III. Sicherstellung von sauberer Außen- und Innenraumluft
IV. Verhütung von Belastungen durch gefährliche Wirkstoffe ittelpunkt gestellt.

The current Children’s Environment and Health Action Plan for Austria, which was developed with the support of numerous government offices, experts and stakeholders at the behest of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Environment and Water Management as well as of the Federal Ministry of Health, Family and Youth, formulates the targets and measures for a healthy environment for our children and places the focus on the needs of our children.
Through this Action Plan, Austria is implementing the recommendations of the Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health of the WHO “The Future of Our Children”, in particular those of the Children‘s Environment and Health Action Plan for Europe (CEHAPE).
Based on an analysis of the current situation, the Austrian Action Plan was developed along the lines of the Children’s Environment and Health Action Plan for Europe and sets forth proposals for measures in the following four priorities for action
defined by the WHO:
I Ensuring safe water supplies and adequate sanitation
II Preventing accidents and ensuring adequate physical activity
III Ensuring clean indoor and outdoor air quality
IV Preventing exposure to hazardous substances
