Description

Over the past eight years, the government contributed to a quality development with the purpose to prevent, deter and deal with violence against the elderly through legislation and various stimulus measures targeted at municipalities. The combined activities are based on the overall objective of the elderly to live in dignity, security and freedom from exploitation and violence in health care. These measures have mainly focused on three strategic areas: dignity and well-being of the individual, quality of care and help and support for family members who care for relatives.

To further support local quality development in the area, the government is now presenting a national strategy on violence against older people in care. The purpose of the strategy is to encourage municipalities to implement a higher level of quality improvement in efforts to prevent, detect and manage such violence against the elderly occurring in health care.
