Description

The Health and Disability Services Standards support the safe provision of services to consumers. They support a culture of continuous quality improvement in services. The standards are not intended to be prescriptive. Rather, they recognise that there are different ways to improve service quality.

The standards cover many aspects of service provision including consumer rights, service governance and management, infection control, and minimising restraint. Providers, auditors, and the regulator will need to exercise good judgement about which Standards and criteria apply to any given service.

The Health and disability services (core) Standards include the general and reference information as well as required outcomes, Standards, and criteria.
