Description

Code of Good Practice: Key Aspects on the Employment of People with Disabilities

The Code of Good Practice on Employment of Persons with Disabilities was introduced in August 2002 by the Department of Labour on the advice of the Commission on Employment Equity (CEE). The code explains how unfair discrimination can be avoided and employment equity achieved in respect of Persons with Disabilities. The code provides guidelines of how employers may recruit and successfully terminate the employment contract of a Person with Disabilities without discrimination.
The main objective of the code is to ensure the provision of reasonable accommodation for people with disability in the workplace. Reasonable accommodation for Persons with Disabilities removes unfair discrimination and thereby enables the person in question to undergo the employment selection process, be employed, and provided with the necessary training, and facilities.
