El presente documento, fruto de un intenso y fructífero trabajo de concertación entre el ámbito público y el privado del sector discapacidad, contiene la Política Pública para el ejercicio de los derechos y la inclusión social de la población de Honduras con discapacidad; asimismo, los compromisos para su implementación y las estrategias para su desarrollo, con la participación de las instituciones del Estado a nivel central y territorial, instituciones y organizaciones de la sociedad civil del sector y ciudadanía en general. El objetivo fundamental de esta Política es equiparar oportunidades; eliminar la discriminación y las barreras sociales y arquitectónicas, que impiden a las personas con discapacidad el pleno ejercicio ciudadano, con el fin de facilitar su participación en la vida política, económica, cultural y social, a partir del reconocimiento y afirmación de este grupo poblacional como sujeto de derechos, la articulación sectorial con las políticas públicas existentes en el país y el actuar gubernamental.
