El objetivo principal de la estrategia es prevenir y/o disminuir el impacto y las consecuencias negativas que el estigma tiene en personas con enfermedad mental y en sus familiares. Desde el marco conceptual de la recuperacion de personas con enfermedad mental, los objetivos específicos que vertebrarían la estrategia son los siguientes: 1. Influir en las personas con enfermedad mental para mejorar su auto-estima. 2. Mejorar el conocimiento y promover la formación sobre la enfermedad mental en la población general y en colectivos específicos (e.g. ámbito escolar, medios de comunicación, profesionales de la salud, fuerzas del orden público, etc.) 3. Modificar las actitudes hacia las personas con enfermedad mental en la sociedad en general y en colectivos específicos. 4. Implementar actuaciones que disminuyan la discriminación asociada al estigma. 5. Promover acciones positivas que modifiquen y mejoren el imaginario colectivo de la enfermedad mental.
