Description
In 2014, the Ministry of Social Development established a new strategic direction in response to environmental challenges and changes. Our strategic direction is to become a single cohesive organisation, with intelligent service delivery centred on the public we serve and support. The Four-Year Plan outlines the Ministry’s strategy, and the key priorities and supporting work programmes to deliver our strategic direction, as at May 2015.
Government and ministerial priorities are reflected in our strategic direction and work
programmes (see Strategic Delivery section). These are:
Reducing Welfare Dependence (BPS target area 1)
Supporting vulnerable children (BPS target areas 2,3 and 4)
Social Sector Trials
Family and sexual violence
Improving interaction with clients
Improving security
Delivering effective contracted services.
Through our eight areas of focus, we expect to deliver on these government priorities.
The Government’s 2015 Legislation Programme includes some key priorities that the
Ministry will need to deliver this year.
